Design and Properties of Glass-Ceramics

چکیده

The regenerator glass-ceramic is produced as a honeycomb product for a turbine engine heat exchanger. It is made from a powdered glass frit, which as a slurry can impregnate paper that is wound as alternately corrugated sheets on a wheel. After firing, a porous ceramic regenerator wheel is produced that allows energy to be transferred from hot exhaust gases to the cold intake air in the turbine engine. The very low thermal expansion [5 X 1O-7;oc (0--1000°C)], and high thermal stability (> 1200°C) are important in this application.

Investigation of crystallization and sinterability properties of BaO-Al2O3-SiO2 glass-ceramics containing K2O and B2O3

BaO -SiO2-Al2O3 glass ceramics containing K2O and B2O3 were prepared using conventional melting of powered batches, quenching in water and crystallization of sintered glass. XRD patterns introducehexacelsian and celsian as two major crystallized phases in sintered glass-ceramics. Presence of K2O enhances crystallization of hexacelsianin comparison withB2O3.Observations showed sintering temperat...

Up and Down Frequency-Conversion Properties of Eu3+ Doped Lead Fluorophosphate Nanoglass Ceramics

Europium doped transparent lead fluorophosphate glass ceramics successfully were prepared with heat treatment of precourse glasses at temperature above glass transition (Tg). X-ray diffraction (XRD) experiment evidenced the formation of PbF2 nanocrystals in glassy matrix. The emission spectra investigation indicate that considerable amount of Eu3+ ions were trapped in crystalline phase, and the...

THE COMPARISON OF MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF SINTERED ?. QUARTZ SOLID SOLUTION AND GAHNITE GLASS – CERAMICS IN ZNO-AL2O3-SIO2 SYSTEM

The effect of precipitation of ?.qss. and gahnite phases during heat treatment of glass frits in the ZnO-Al2O3-SiO2 system on the mechanical property of resulting glass-ceramic specimens were investigated. It was shown that gahnite glass-ceramics had higher bend strength and toughness values than ?.qss. ones. The results are attributed to the higher modulus of elasticity as well as higher therm...

An investigation on Mechanical Properties of Apatite-Wollastonite-Diopside Glass-Ceramics Composites

Apatite-wollastonite (A-W)-phlogopite glass-ceramic is considered to be difficult to resorb, but often, it has been incorporated in particulate form to create new bioactive composites for potential maxillofacial applications. With various compositions, the present work has attempted to prepare apatite-wollastonite (A-W)-phlogopite glass ceramic composites, by applying sintering. Here, three-poi...

Luminescence Properties of Oxyfluoride Glass and Glass Ceramic Doped with Y3 + Ions

Oxyfluoride glass ceramics containing CaF2nano-crystals doped with Y3+ ions were prepared by one-step crystallization of SiO2- Al2O3- CaO- CaF2 glasses at different temperatures. X- ray diffraction (XRD) results have revealed that CaF2 was the only precipitated crystalline phase in glass ceramic samples. According to the XRD results, a glass ceramic was selected as the best sample in order to ...

Crystallization Kinetics and Characterization of Nanostructure Mica Glass-Ceramics with Optical Transparency

Transparent glasses in a system of Li2O-MgO-SiO2-Al2O3-Fchemical constituents were prepared by melt quenching method. In the fabrication of nanocrystal glass-ceramics, controlled nucleation and subsequent crystal growth were necessary to avoid loss of transparency. It was therefore important to understand thermal properties and crystallization kinetic...
